Frequently Asked Questions
A: This is a web-based casual geography game where you watch a small video-clip and based on the information gathered in that clip - you mark the location where it was filmed on a map.
A: At my previous assignment, we used to play a small (max 30 minutes) teambuilding game every friday morning. That was a great way to connect to other co-workers since we worked from home most of the time.
Anyway - we played a bunch of different small multiplayer party-games, but one that I suggested everytime I could, was Virtual Vacation. I really liked the game loop of trying to find details in the video and then go super-zoom and try to get as close as possible on the map.
BUT! For whatever reason, the multiplayer part of that site stopped working somewhere around summer 2023. We waited, but nothing happened and by the end of 2023 I figured that the multiplayer part of that project was abandoned. So - I made my own version instead. I added some minor changes, but more changes will come at some point.

A: I do that one by one manually in the database. So if you requested that I added a video, don't be surprised if it takes some time.
A: Nope - the entire game is based around videos (and videoId's) on YouTube.
A: Nope - I'm currently hosting this site on a minimal server and the project is not built to scale across multiple servers either. That means that at some point - the server will give up and fail, but that requires more visitors than I could ever dream of. So - if the server ends up flooded by players, I will start to work on a more fancy backend.
